Career in Bank
Banks are the pivot of corporate and individual finance and source of funding different business and personal needs. Banks extend loans, which are vital for the growth of society and the industry. Apart from that banks offer a host of other crucial services as well such as foreign currency exchange, investment, issuing bonds and mutual funds, insurance, services related to capital market and money market, and individual services such as issuance of e-tickets, payment of bills, and services related to education.
One can imagine the strength of banking sector in India by the fact that there are over 82000 branches including cooperative and local area banks with more than 55,000 ATMs across the country. Banking has always been a lucrative and prestigious career. With more diversification and unparallel growth both in assets and number of branches, banking sector is slowly becoming one of the most sought after careers after engineering and medicine. There is a need of diversified skills and that is the reason that banks are employing MBAs, MCAs and people with the knowledge of treasury, investment and insurance and IT.
Banks recruit from the campuses too. Some of the banks are offering hefty paychecks resulting in more and more people flocking to the sector. People are required at various levels and that is the reason that from front office branch clerks to MBAs from tier one institutes, there is no lack of job opportunities in the banks. With more automation in the fray, banks need a large number of computer professionals and IT experts. So, people with diploma or degree in IT or networking are in huge demand these days. People with legal background, accounting and auditing skills and knowledge of Economics and local languages are also highly sought after.
