Journalism is an exciting and glamorous career. Not only are the big bucks there, but it is also a passport to quick fame and visibility. It is also a challenging career, which is full of responsibilities and require very high level of energies. The reporting job requires frequent travelling, and willingness to work 24*7. The different positions one can work at are reporter, news analyst, editor, magazine specialist, and photojournalist. You can also work as feature writer. A journalist should have exposure to current affairs and should have deep analytical skills.

There are three levels of journalism course, intermediate, graduate and post graduate. For better employment opportunities one should opt for a post graduate level program in journalism. An internship in a prestigious media house would also help you raise your prospects. The key skills to excel in the field of journalism include your language skills. You should know the art of choosing the words which grab attention and force a person to listen to what you say or go through what you write. Passion is also a crucial element in the field of journalism, which can take you to stars within a very short period of time. In the long run nothing can beat the fire of passion.

Current Scenario of Journalism Courses in India

India is a country with 1.25 billion people and there are lots of media houses, TV channels and periodicals in the length and breadth of the country. So, there is no dearth of jobs for the right people. Increasing competition among the print and electronic media is giving way to fresh hiring sprees and everybody is on the lookout for younger, fresher and talented people. Fresher graduates can start as freelancers and later on go for full time job with leading periodicals. 

Major Examinations for Journalism Courses in India

The eligibility criteria to get selected in the Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication is 10+2 with minimum 50% of marks, (45% for SC/ST/OBC, please refer to the prospectus.) After completing Bachelor of Journalism and mass communication course, you can go for Master of Journalism and Mass Communication course. Some PG diploma courses in Journalism and Mass Communication are also equivalent to it. Some of the course that can help you make a career in journalism are
